Entering Into December
As we enter into December, we have much to be thankful for to God. He has brought us through many trials and challenges and has so blessedly come through in so many ways to meet the needs physically and spiritually for so many. Any improvement in life among us is met with much thanksgiving bringing hope in ways that many have not had in some time now. Life has a purpose. We must embrace not only that life but the purposes of God in at as well. We must as a people and a ministry move forward. We cannot afford to look back. We press on with determination knowing we have the Living God that we can trust to lead us and guide us. To trust that He will provide for those we minister to both in Spirit and earthly needs.
A Permanent Home and Ministry Base
Besides the everyday needs that need to be met this month, we are endeavoring to proceed with the permanent children's home and other out buildings on the OOCM property which will allow us more stability and flexibility to minister to those around us. In many ways the villagers see this building project as a symbol of the stability of the hope they are beginning to embrace. The present stage of the building project is the 1st wing of the Children's home. The two dormitory wings (boys and girls) will follow.
This has been a stretch of faith on our part to attempt such a project but God has been gracious to provide for this as well. There are still some bills for the current progress left unpaid and the first wing needs more roofing, windows, doors, electricity, etc. Perhaps some of you reading this will be touched by God to specifically contribute to this project's completion. Once the 1st wing and the 2 dorm wings are finished and outfitted, OOCM will be able to move in and proceed with other projects on the property like growing food and teaching more life improvement classes to the widows and other villagers. We will also be able to more effectively do outreaches into the community as well. The cost of the 3 wings will be approximately $23,000 USD...
Childrens' Progress In Schooling
Recently we had a "party" for the children to celebrate their accomplishments in school. Many of these children would not be able to attend or do well without the donations we receive. This was a joyous time for all the children and adults as well. Officials were also in attendance. For the orphans and other children to receive an education means a much brighter future for those children and the villages they live in. Because there are no schools in our villages at present, children have to attend boarding schools. School fees and contributions to their food supply must be made in order for the children to attend school. This educational assistance on the part of OOCM and your donations towards their care and education are changing the lives of these children. One might even say it is creating the "audacity of hope" in what has been for them in many cases a hopeless life. Perhaps much more than most people these orphans and widows know the meaning of the expression. They know what hopelessness is. They are beginning to taste hope now. Hope against all odds.

Projects: Ministry Update
Greetings!
We would like to express our gratitude for all of you who have contributed in prayer and financial support to this ministry and would like to update you on a few major projects that are ongoing here at OOCM.
Village Agricultural Improvement Project
The agricultural classes held by friends of OOCM on November 8th, 2013 (the third in a series) went very well with many in the village in attendance. The villagers in the area are very responsive to agricultural education so far and are appreciative of it.
Mukulu Jonathan recently was selected by the village to attend an Agricultural Conference in Kampala, Uganda to gain more insight into improving the farming methods of the villagers. He has brought back a great deal of insight on improving local village agriculture to enhance the food production in the area.
This is a very important project as most of the food for the village is acquired by local farming. But, because of poor farming methods and understanding, the crop yield is very low. This project is a blessing to the community and as such helps to bring much stability for the orphan children and the families that eventually take them into their families. We thank God for this wonderful opportunity and that it is going very well. We have included some pictures from one of our classes below.
Children's Home
The construction of the first wing of the children's home is coming along well. Recently, most of the roof was installed with exception of about 10 sheets of roofing that we are lacking at present. This children's home will provide much more stability to the children and our ministry. You can see more about this project by clicking on the link "OOCM Action Plan" on the left side of this page. More construction photos are forthcoming. You can also, if you have a facebook account, see many more pictures of the children, villagers, staff and the new first wing's construction available on Mukulu Jonathans page.
Agricultural Class Photos
Agricultural teams were teaching some improved methods and measures on how to protect some crops from pests, diseases, weeds and a teaching to how to maintain, proper handling and use of the spray pumps ... It was a happy moment and we thank the lord for this progress...
Giving out the gift of supplies to widows and other groups. It was a very good time for them and OOCM staff...
Widows, vulnerable families and youths were empowered in receiving these gifts items (3 spray pumps) from OOCM we thank donors for blessing this unfortunate, neglected remote village area of our ministry and blessing the communities at large... God bless you
Some of them had never seen a pump like this before and never used them. We were teaching and giving tips to one of the widows and a youth leader on how to maintain and spray a small garden for pest and weed control, and to prevent diseases to plants. It was a great blessing and achievement. We thank God for this provision to OOCM and we also thank you all for your prayers and support in the long term.

Agricultural Training Session III
A message from Mukulu Jonathan, founder and director of OOCM.
Greetings friends, brothers and sisters !
Heavenly Father, please continue to bless Oasis Orphans Care Ministry and friends who take their time to pray for our ministry to reach horizons and take commitments to supply donations for needy. May the lord bless you all...
I would love to take this chance to introduce one of our projects and ask some prayers always from you all....
November 8th, (friday) tomorrow, we are hosting Agricultural Trainers who are my friends from Kampala. It's going to be the third time they are visiting, coming to teach about Agricultural methods, rearing animals in OOCM and around to widows, youths, and to share with village community. It's a good thing because most of our group members are agriculturally based who practice poor farming methods. My friends help make some improvements to the farming.
Keep us in prayers...

UPDATE: School Supplies, Beginning Construction
A Busy Few Months
We do not have a school in our village(s) so the children who are able go to school have to attend a boarding school some distance away. Every 3 months or so they have a 3 week break so they return to us. This is always a time of rejoicing but it is also a time that we know that in order for the children to return to school, there is a large need to come up with the required school fees and supplies they need to attend. This time it was very difficult to raise those needs. We are very grateful for those who have responded in their hearts to pray and contribute to those needs. The needs of these children are not going to just go away anytime soon. Like any family, this is a very long term commitment and for us, one that expands with time as more children are orphaned in the community. God bless you all for your responses, prayers and support.
Outlying Areas
We have been spending quite a bit of time visiting people in our village and outlying areas lately ministering to needs both physical and spiritual needs...
The Need For A Stable Location
Some time ago we received a very generous specific donation to purchase some land for a permanent "home" for the ministry and the children. Even though such a goal seems well out of our reach, we embraced this goal knowing that the present location we rent is really not adequate for the type of ministry we are involved in. We have purchased a piece of property with that donation. The new location will be far more adaptable to the needs and provide a stable home for orphans we cannot place with cooperating "foster" families. The new location is in an outlying location providing a much better and safer atmosphere for the children and better access for the people we minister to. We would like to request ongoing prayer and support for this effort as it will greatly enhance our ability to minister to the needs in the area in the long term.
Beginning Construction
A little while ago we were enabled to purchase some materials to start construction of the first wing of the childrens home. The entire 3 wings of the children's home alone will cost $23,000 USD and we are totally dependent on God touching people's hearts to raise up support for this project... Below are pictures of recent initial construction. This "small beginning" has been the cause of much rejoicing among us.
The walls on this wing are ready and waiting for the roof to be built...

Someone recently gave a small donation and our staff decided to buy some balls for the orphans to play with and to try to make a playground for them...
Mukulu Jonathan (Founder and Director of OOCM) is pictured below with the children showing them how to play a game with the ball. Looks like everybody was having a great time...

Widows and Foster Family Empowerment
Attending a meeting of widows.
There are many women in Uganda and in the villages we minister in who have lost their husbands to disease and poor medical care - many of them with children.
OOCM staff helps widows to increase their incomes by teaching them how to make arts and crafts, etc to sell, as well as helping them to set up other small businesses. Staff helps widows along with the foster families who take in orphans to organize and create additional income ...

The Gift Of Shoes
Recently a company in the USA sent 65 pairs of shoes for the orphans and other disadvantaged children. It was such a blessing to gather the children all together and distribute these wonderful gifts. We were so surprised by this generous gift. What a blessing!

To Care Or Not To Care?
At OOCM, we get to see firsthand the need and how, many disadvantaged
children and widow's lives are improved. By sending donations to OOCM,
you are participating in the lives of those who need help the most.

It was sad here when we found this sick child left by her mother because she had no help. I thank the members of our staff that we took this child to our center and we started ministering help.... Thanks to the Lord! April 10, 2013

When the children get help their health is improved. They experience being loved in a way that many of them have never experienced. They begin to have hope in a better, more stable life. June 29, 2013

School Supplies
Although the children's education is free in Uganda, there are attached fees that need to be paid for each child and the children have to gather their own school supplies in order to attend and be successful. At OOCM, we try to insure that every child can attend school and have the supplies they need. Very often we receive gifts of school supplies that are shipped to us and we have the pleasure of distributing them among the children. It is an exciting time for them and us.
